La información contenida en esta actualización se obtiene a partir de los datos distribuidos por los Ministerios de Salud de los Estados Miembros y de los Centros Nacionales de Influenza, ya sea por intermedio de reportes enviados a la OPS o en actualizaciones de sus páginas Web.

Resumen semanal

·          En América del Norte, la actividad de enfermedad respiratoria aguda continúa estable y es menor de lo esperado en la mayoría de las áreas.

·          En los países del Caribe, Cuba y Jamaica notificaron tendencias sin cambios de enfermedad respiratoria aguda.

·          En América Central, El Salvador y Honduras reportaron tendencias decrecientes de enfermedad respiratoria aguda, mientras que Panamá reportó tendencia creciente.

·          Los países de América del Sur notificaron tendencias decrecientes o sin cambios de enfermedad respiratoria aguda.

·          Entre la SE 1 y 20 de 2010, en Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala y Jamaica predominó el virus pandémico. En Argentina y Paraguay se identificó principalmente virus sincicial respiratorio.

·          Se notificaron 9 nuevas muertes confirmadas en 3 países; en total desde el inicio de la pandemia se han confirmado 8.410 fallecidos

Weekly Update

·          In North America, acute respiratory disease activity remained stable and is lower than expected in most areas.

·          In the Caribbean countries, Cuba and Jamaica reported unchanged trends in acute respiratory disease.

·          In Central American countries, El Salvador and Honduras reported decreasing trends in acute respiratory disease while Panama reported an increasing trend.

·          All South American countries reported decreasing or unchanged trends in acute respiratory disease.

·          From EW 1 to 20, in Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala and Jamaica, the pandemic virus predominated. Argentina and Paraguay detected the predominance of respiratory syncytial virus.

·          9 new confirmed deaths in 3 countries were reported; in total there have been 8,410 cumulative confirmed deaths.
