This network is intended to strengthen health systems in the Region of the Americas through the incorporation of the principles, values and elements of the PHC strategy. Its purpose is to bring the knowledge to action and action to knowledge using information technology and communication in order to contribute to the transformation of health systems based on PHC in the Region of the Americas.

The objectives of the Collaborative Network are:

•          Validate technical, social and political strategy of PHC as the cornerstone for the development of health systems.
•           Use the PHC strategy as the focus of technical cooperation of PAHO / WHO, the
Pan American Sanitary Bureau (Secretariat of PAHO / WHO) and countries
•           Encourage learning through the dissemination of work processes and tools effective (good practices) related to the issues prioritized by the Red
•           Build bridges between the different stakeholders to share knowledge and experiences
•           Support ongoing training and skills development of human resources

One of the main elements of the RedAPS is the possibility of being part of communities of practice.

The Community of Practice is a tool that promotes collective learning through the interaction of different actors at different levels and enables us to identify and document the experiences and knowledge mapping in APS, the exchange of this information, participation in discussion groups and consultation with community members, and identification of gaps to promote research. The ultimate goal of the Communities of Practice is problem solving through collaborative learning.

This Collaborative Network is part of the context of e-communication strategy adopted by the 51st health. Directing Council of PAHO/WHO.
The aim of the Strategy is to support the use cost-effective and secure information technology and communications in health and / or fields related to it, including the health care services, surveillance and health documentation, and education, knowledge and research in health. "
